CRA Online Payment Options

Did you know CRA has online payment options?

If you owe Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), there are several online options to choose from to make a payment. The days standing in a long line up at your bank to make a payment are long gone; unless of course you choose to stand in line at your bank.

From owing CRA individual income tax, corporate income tax, or a small business GST, PST, payroll remittance, they can all be paid online.  No more excuses to be dinged with late fees from CRA when payments can be made by the following options;

As an Individual

  • Debit card
  • Pre-authorized debit
  • Online banking
  • Credit card

For Small Business

CRA allows payments for corporate income tax, GST, payroll source deductions and several other payments owing. To learn more click on this link Making payments for businesses.

  • Debit card
  • Pre-authorized debit
  • Online banking
  • Credit card
  • Third-party service providers for example Canada Post (fees may apply)

Non-residents Wire Transfer

Non Residents that owe taxes to CRA but do not have a Canadian bank account can arrange to make a payment by wire transfer. The Pay by Wire Transfer For Non-Residents provides details how and where to send the wire-transfer. Take note, the information requested by CRA from individuals and businesses are slightly different.

CRA Payment Arrangement Calculator

CRA Payment Arrangement Calculator gives you the opportunity to figure out how to much you can afford to pay based on a frequency of monthly, biweekly, or weekly payments. There is also the option to select amount per payment or stretch out number of payments.

CRA has the final say and prefers payment in full immediately; but for many, this is not always possible. Before contacting CRA, the payment arrangement calculator is a tool to help you through the process how much interest you may need to pay, depending on length of time interest accumulates, payment frequency, and most importantly, the amount to discuss with CRA that you can afford to pay. Do not ignore your outstanding balances; instead contact CRA to discuss a payment arrangement with them.
