Where it all began
I grew up in a home where my father was the entrepreneur running a small construction business with many side line businesses. The entire family helped in the business; my mother and I did the paperwork. At the same time I was employed in various industries that provided me with a solid basis for business. I did not go directly into public practice, but I actually worked my way up through the various levels of a business. Starting from a receptionist/secretary, to accounts payable clerk, to collections, to financial reporting and analysis, upwards to management. When I finally entered into public practice I could relate to the owner’s struggles because of the experiences I actually had by working at the front lines of business.
My education coincided with my practical experience and I took courses to improve my skills as my positions required. My computer experience began in 1979 on the first Apple Supercalc program and I have been constantly and consistently upgrading my skills and education ever since. When I discovered the Certified General Accountant (CGA) program whereby education must equal practical experience, it was a perfect fit for me. Today the Certified General Accountant (CGA) has evolved into the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. I also hold a bachelor in computer science and experience with computer conversions. This means I can provide computer consulting and training for you and your business. One final area of my expertise to mention is I hold a Chartered Manager designation which is internationally recognized for competencies in leadership, strategy, finances, accounting, management operations, and organizational analysis.
